At this moment, a half-dozen astronauts are assembling a new space station hundreds of miles above of the earth. Thousands of sailors live and work under the sea in submarines. Incas jog through the Andes. Nomads roam the Arabian sands. Homo sapiens – literally, “intelligent man” – has adapted to nearly every environment on the face of the earth, below it, and as far above it as we can propel ourselves. We must be doing something right.

Das fängt ja gut an.
